The Client
Microsoft is quite simply the biggest software company in the world. Their research division is dedicated to innovation, and collaborates with leading institutions all over the world.
The Challenge…
We were approached by Microsoft Research to film a series of outreach lectures presented by world renowned scientist Chris Bishop. The project was in conjunction with the Royal Institute and the lectures discussed the ‘Science Behind Fireworks’ and ‘Chemical Curiosities’.
How We Helped…
With a brief to film and produce two lectures involving explosions and deadly chemicals in front of a live audience, we were certainly kept busy with this project. Live events are always a challenge, but we made sure we were ready for any eventuality by shooting all of the experiments on additional days. We filmed the lectures using a three camera set up as well as taking care of all lighting and sound.
For delivery of the finished films, we provided both in electronic formats, as well as fully authoring and producing two DVD’s that will be distributed to schools nationwide. We even put together two behind the scenes promo that will be used to promote the DVD’s.
We had a great time working with Microsoft Research on this project, and we even learnt a little something along the way! You can view the full ‘Science Behind Fireworks’ lecture here or watch one of the promo’s here.
